Egg donation is a process where an individual—often called a donor—provides their eggs to another person or couple— known as the recipient—to help them conceive a child. This procedure is often sought by people who, due to various reasons like age, medical conditions, or genetic disorders, cannot use their own eggs.

​The egg donation process involves several steps, including the screening of the donor, hormonal stimulation to encourage egg production, and a procedure to extract the eggs. The donated eggs are then fertilized in a laboratory through a process called in vitro fertilization (IVF), and the resulting embryos are transferred into the recipient's uterus.
