Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is the pathway for people who already have embryos in storage. When a patient or couple is ready to expand their family, a frozen embryo can be thawed and transferred into the uterus. This process allows more flexibility in family planning, enabling people to grow their families at their own pace.

Your Journey

Here's a look at your Embryo Transfer process with Sama. You can rest easy knowing that we'll be with you at every step.

Step 1: Fertility Consult Call

Meet with a Sama fertility doctor who can answer pressing questions, share success rates, and guide you through your journey.​

Step 2: Care Planning Call

​Meet with a member of our care team to understand pricing and process, who is available to help, and how you can reach them.

Step 3: Thawing and Grading Embryos

Frozen embryos are collected and thawed in a Sama facility. Embryos are then graded to help determine which ones may be suitable for a transfer.​​​

Step 4: Embryo Transfer

Once a single, healthy embryo is identified, it's time for the embryo transfer. Transfers take place at a Sama clinic and are carried out by a fertility doctor. Any healthy embryos that are left over are frozen for future use or donation.​

Step 5: Pregnancy Testing and Monitoring

About two weeks after the transfer, you'll take a pregnancy test. If the test is positive, we'll have you take another test shortly after to confirm that the pregnancy is progressing well. If the pregnancy test is negative, we are here to provide support. We'll partner with you to explore the best next steps for your family building journey.

Step 6: Embryo Storage

Any healthy embryos that aren't implanted can be stored for future use. Sama has a bespoke partnership with TMRW, the world's first automated, proprietary storage management platform. Storage is available for $600 a year.​​
